The short version

You're meeting a fellow teacher, and the payment system means nobody needs to carry cash. Still: public place, daylight, bring a colleague if you can, and trust your gut.

Before you meet

  • Keep the conversation on reteach. It keeps a record, and it keeps the payment protection intact. Anyone who pushes hard to move off-platform or pay outside the app is showing you something; believe them.
  • Pick a public spot. A school parking lot during daylight, a library, a coffee shop. Many police stations offer designated exchange zones. For furniture, a school loading area beats a private garage.
  • Share your plan.Tell someone where you're going and when. Bringing a colleague is never rude; it's teacher-brain, and the other teacher gets it.
  • Don't share your home address. Your ZIP code area is all the site shows, and all a buyer needs until you decide otherwise. Large-furniture pickups from home are your call; have someone with you.

At the handoff

  • Inspect before you confirm.Open the box, count the books, plug the thing in. The payment only captures when the buyer confirms the handoff in the app, so confirm after you've looked, not before.
  • No cash changes hands. The card hold placed at checkout is the payment. If someone asks for cash on top, that's not how reteach works; walk away and report it.
  • Feel off? Leave. No item is worth ignoring your instincts. The hold releases; you lose nothing.

After

  • Buyers: confirm the handoff in the app so the seller gets paid promptly. That confirmation is the whole system working.

Look out for each other out there. That's the whole idea of this place.
